The Ocala Christian football team traveled to Lakeland Santa Fe Catholic and left town with its second victory of the season, a 13-7 win over the Hawks.
OCA running back CJ Williams had a rushing touchdown, and the senior also ran back the opening kickoff of the second half which proved to be the game-winning score.
Williams and Jacquez Pinkston teamed up for a total of 200 yards rushing on the night for OCA (2-4).
The Crusaders began the season 0-4 before defeating the Merritt Island Christian 48-15 last Friday.
“That first win (against Merritt Island Christian) was a big confidence booster for the team, it was very noticeable, and the goal now is to keep the attitude going in that direction,” OCA head coach Dale Jackson said.
“Santa Fe (Catholic) scored on its first drive and we came right back and got on the board. We were trailing 7-6 before CJ’s kickoff return that put us up for good.”
Marvin Brooks had two blocked punts and 10 total tackles for the Crusaders, and Colton Bloom had his first interception of the season.
OCA has its homecoming game next Friday against Lecanto Seven Rivers Christian. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
St. John def. Classical Prep, 25-6, 25-14, 25-7: At St. John, Carson Locker (10 kills, 2 aces, 6 service points), Samantha Kreitenstein (8 kills), Lexi Kindall (2 kills, 4 aces, 10 service points), and Savannah Spears (22 assists, 21 service points) led the Saints in the sweep against Classical Prep.
St. John (13-6) hosts Lecanto on Tuesday at 6 p.m. for Senior Night.
