The Navy Gateway Inns & Suites (NGI&S) at Naval Station Mayport is closing with plans for the oceanfront building to be demolished.

NGI&S Mayport General Manager Ada Dorcé said the building, just north of Ocean Breeze Conference Center, will close on Nov. 7 to make way for a newer version.

The current building, also known as Davis Hall, will be torn down and a new 126-room hotel will be built in its place. That project is expected to take approximately three years, Dorcé said.

"While our hotel remains a preferred choice of government travelers and military families alike, the new construction will allow us to provide the very best hotel experience to our valued guests," she added. "During the closure period, we apologize for any inconvenience and offer our sincere thanks for your patience and support. Please visit our other locations within the local commuting area.
