FRC Production Efficiency Up With AIRSpeed Changes
|
||
Last month, the detachment conducted five Lean Six Sigma events, continuing its efforts toward improving the organization's efficiency and improved throughput and parts support to the CHSMWL/CHSCWL fleet.
Trained and mentored by Jim Sorosiak of Dynamic Research Corporation, with participation from the students of the newly graduated AIRSpeed Green Belt classes held earlier this year, FRC Mayport made headway in the Hybrid Test Station work center, 69E.
Conducting a Value Stream Analysis (VSA) and Rapid Improvement Event (RIE), the AIRSpeed Team was able to create a more efficient workflow in efforts to achieve their goal of reducing the Time to Reliably Replenish (TRR - synonymous to Turn Around Time) by 33 percent.
After only one week of the design being implemented, 69E's backlog of workable assets was completely eliminated, resulting in an increase in avionics assets available and Ready for Issue to the fleet.
Another significant achievement at the FRC was the AIRSpeed 5S event conducted in Mayport's T-700 Engine Build-up facility, work center 41R. (5S Events are processes and methods for creating and maintaining organized, clean, high performance work places, which eliminates time wasted searching and storing tools, materials and assets.
FRC Mayport's powerplant floor is more efficient after the department implements AIRSpeed improvements.
FRC's next milestone - to be the east coast's premier T-700 engine Super Site and the CNAF model T-700 engine build facility.
