Eight Commands Take The Challenge

SERMC Mayport is the 2006 MWR Fall Sports Challenge winner with a totale of 1,650 points after winning 10 activities during the competition. -Photos by MC3 David Didier

More than 400 participants from eight different commands took up the challenge at the 2006 MWR Fall Sports Challenge held Oct. 25-26 on base. This time around it would be SERMC that would place first overall with 1,650 points.

ATG Commanding Officer, Capt. Bill Larson and STGCM Ken Morrison brought home the winning stroke in this year's CO Canoe Challenge. SERMC added its first winning points by blowing away the competition at the Experienced Canoe Race.

SERMC also won Bowling, Skeet, Ultimate Frisbee, Softball, Golf, Volleyball, Strongman competition, Auto Racing, Tug-o-War.

USS Carney hooped it up during 3-on-3 Basketball and HSL-42 hit on target during the Racquetball competition. USS Carney went on to win the 8-Ball Pool.

ATG placed second overall with 1,400 points after the command won Dodgeball, Horseshoes and the Scavenger Hunt.

Naval Station Mayport was the third place winner this year withthe best 5K Run time.

SERMC pulled the hardest during the Tug-o-War competition.
