Mayport Fire And Emergency Services Is Tops In SE Region
The CNRSE fire award is given annually and is judged on the following criteria:
Fire Fighter Mike Parks climbs the rescue ladder during a regularly scheduled drill onboard Naval Station Mayport. Mayport's Fire Department was just awarded the Fire Fighter Heroism Award and the Fire Department of the Year Award.
The CNRSE Firefighter Heroism Award is also given annually and it recognizes individual acts of heroism that are above and beyond the call of duty in the performance of Fire and Emergency Services.
"All of us in this profession are heroes, but to be recognized as a winner is an outstanding achievement," said Fire Chief Donald Martin.
After the regional awards, the department is advanced to the next round, where they will compete against all 12 regions for the National award, which includes departments from all other military services. The department will attend the annual award ceremony in August, where the national winners will be announced.
