On Tuesday, the Fighting Devils were visited by a group of 80 people from the NJROTC and Navy League in Vero Beach, Fla.
The group was led by retired Rear Adm. Roland George Guilbault, the President of the Treasure Coast Council and Former Commander, Cruiser Destroyer Group 12, Enterprise Battle Group.
Many of the Navy League members were veterans of World War II, while most of the NJROTC students were seniors in high school rapidly approaching graduation. The tour included multiple stops throughout Underwood, with enlisted Sailors providing short presentations about equipment and mission areas within their areas of expertise.
The week continued with a visit on Thursday from an NJROTC unit from Georgetown, South Carolina. The group of 13 cadets' tour began with a demonstration of the movement capabilities of the CIWS mount, and continued forward and down to the combat information center to gain an insight on the brains of the ship.
Next came engineering spaces and the mess decks for a perspective on how meals work at sea and continued to the wardroom to see what life as officers is like.
The tour ended back on the mess decks with refreshments and an opportunity for the cadets to ask multiple officers and enlisted Sailors questions about their time in the Navy.
