Goal for the Navy: Get the most out of the Navy while on active duty!

How has the Navy Improved Your Life? First and foremost, I met my wife in the Navy and we later got married and started a family. We have one son (Wyatt) and he’s 2 years old. We also just purchased our first home here in Jacksonville, FL.

Why was this Sailor chosen to be highlighted? In the past week alone, ABF3 McKernan methodically rebuilt 3 D-1 Carter JP-5 Fueling Nozzles enhancing the material readiness and operational workflow of Mayport Aviation Fuels Division. His effort ensures the division is postured with ample JP-5 nozzle spares in the event of a casualty which are often due to normal wear and tear.

The heightened sense of material readiness drastically reduces the amount of down time due to equipment failure and enhance mission success rate for supporting squadrons. He also constantly keeps an watchful eye out for discrepancies within the system.

For example, last Monday while conducting his fuel rounds, ABF3 McKernan noticed that the emergency eyewash station at the Direct Refueling Pit was out of water. He immediately notified his work center supervisor and took action. These attention to detail items is what makes ABF3 McKernan stand out performer and integral member of our team.
