The Littoral Combat Ship Crew Sioux City Blue, attached to Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) Sioux City (LCS 11) held a Change of Command Ceremony at the COMLSCRON2 headquarters on Dec. 8.
Cmdr. James "Randy" Malone relieved Cmdr. William S. Snyder as Sioux City Blue's commanding officer.
Since assuming command of Sioux City Blue in November 2015, Cmdr. Snyder led the crew  through their Commissioning and different certifications.
"I couldn't be more proud of the men and women of Sioux City Blue crew," said Snyder. "Their hard work and dedication have made my tour successful and it has truly been an honor to serve with each and every one of them."
During the ceremony in Mayport, Snyder, who will continue his naval service on the staff of US Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain, was presented with the Meritorious Service Medal for his performance as commanding officer from November 2015 to December 2017.
Malone officially assumed the title and responsibilities as Sioux City Blue's commanding officer after orders were read and salutes rendered.
Malone served as Sioux City Blue's executive officer from November 2015 to December 2017.  Previous tours include USS Dewey (DDG 45), USS Stark (FFG 31), USS Defender (MCM 2), USS Boone (FFG 28), and the United States Central Command.
"My tour as XO was successful due to the overwhelming motivation and steady strain this crew maintains no matter what is required of them," said Malone. "The men and women of this crew are matched by none other.  They adapt and overcome all challenges, from flying to Little Creek VA to the USS Milwaukee over Christmas, when the ship suffered a major engineering casualty, to conducting Final Contract Trails on USS Detroit.  This Crew ROCKS!"
PCU Sioux City (LCS 11) is the sixth Freedom Class Variant constructed by Lockheed-Martin. It is currently under construction at Fincantieri Marinette Marine in Marinette, Wisconsin and expected to commission the spring of 2018 in Annapolis, MD.
