A new venue, new ticket options and a whole bunch more music will be rocking out Naval Station Mayport at this year's Mayport Music Fest May 6.
MWR Director Lee Bell said this year's confirmed acts include rock icons Cheap Trick and Tom Keifer of Cinderella, along with bands Less than Jake and Staunton.
Want to see them? This year you'll need a ticket whether you're planning on sitting in the free general admissions area or getting face-to-face in the VIP section, Bell said.
The festival is shifting to a new location at the multipurpose field beside Naval Branch Health Clinic (NBHC) Mayport. Bell said the new locations will bring a lot of extra options - such as a decked out VIP lounge area with complimentary food like shrimp and salmon, beef brisket and ribs and beverage. VIP close parking, band swag and meet & greet with the bands are also included with VIP tickets.
Other preferred ticket options will be available for purchase, he said. Bell also emphasized that this is not an open gate event. Military ID holders can bring guests if they want to escort them on the naval station, but the general public cannot attend. Also, all fans planning on attending the concert must get a ticket - including free tickets - through MWR's website, navymwrmayport.com. Tickets go on sale March 6.
Fans who like MWR Mayport's Facebook page will have preffered ticket buying options for the first 74 hours with a special promo code, Bell said. He added that they are expecting the VIP tickets to sell out quickly, so don't wait if you want the best seats.
