HSL-42 Holds Change of Command

Cmdr. Richard A. Skiff took command of HSL-42 today (Dec. 14) in a ceremony held in the HSL-42 aircraft hangar. Skiff relieved Cmdr. Douglas J. ten Hoopen, who commanded the Proud Warriors since September of 2005. [ More ]

Pearl Harbor Remembered
An easy wind and smooth seas served as backdrop for more than 200 veterans as they walked up the brow of the USS Farragut (DDG-99) and got underway to remember fallen shipmates who lost their lives during the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.

USS Halyburton (FFG 40) returned to homeport Dec. 8 after completing a variety of different missions, which together formed a five-month deployment between July and Dec. 2006.

Halyburton Makes Honorary Sailors In Philadelphia Hospitals
The Mayport, Fla., based frigate USS Halyburton (FFG 40) was in Philadelphia in support of the Army-Navy football game last weekend, but also took time to visit local hospitals as part of the Navy's ''Caps for Kids'' program.

USS Philippine Sea, HSL-42 Detachment Return To Mayport
USS Philippine Sea returned Dec. 8 from a six-month deployment to the Northern Arabian Gulf in direct support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The officers and crew conducted round the clock operations in Iraqi territorial waters protecting the critical offshore oil infrastructure. ''Philippine Sea had the rare opportunity to spend three and a half months operating in Iraqi Territorial Waters in direct support of Operation Iraqi Freedom,'' said Lieutenant Commander Zachary Staples, PSE Operations Officer.
