Congressional Staffers Enjoy USS Carney Visit
USS Carney had an opportunity to host a young group of Congress staff workers for a recent orientation tour. Staff members were from six different states, including Virginia, Georgia, Michigan, Florida, North Carolina and Maryland.

Stavridis Visits NAVSO
Commander, U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) visited U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command (NAVSO) headquarters here Nov. 13 for his first visit since assuming command in October.

Gettysburg Returns to Sea
After a five-month respite from the sea, which included a fast-paced drydock and topside maintenance availability, USS Gettysburg (CG 64) returned to sea on Nov. 13. Although the underway for sea trials lasted merely one day, Gettysburg Sailors accomplished many important tests of newly installed and recently updated systems.

Spreading The Cheer
The Giving Tree is a special military community outreach program designed to extend holiday warmth to special children in need throughout the Mayport military community. NEX patrons are asked to enhance the Christmas holiday and makes dreams come true for special children. All Navy Exchange customers are encouraged to participate in this worthwhile project.
