A change of command ceremony was held aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Carney (DDG-64) on Nov. 5. Cmdr. Brendan McLane relieved Cmdr. Glenn Kuffel as commanding officer of Carney.

Schools Reach Out To Mayport Commands During Veterans Day
Commands from Naval Station Mayport visited several Jacksonville area elementary schools last week to participate in Veterans Day remembrance ceremonies. HSL-48 continued the annual tradition of a flyover and show-and-tell at Alimicani Elementary School's ceremony on Nov. 7. The helicopter landed in the school's field and the aircrew talked with classes about the helicopter and their jobs in the Navy for the most of the day.
