USS Carney, Hue City Deploy With Truman

USS Hue City (CG 66) with embarked HSL-48 Detachment One and USS Carney (DDG 64) joined more than 7,300 Sailors from 17 commands and three staffs on Nov. 5 as Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group (HSTCSG) deployed to the Central Command Area of Operations as part of the ongoing rotation to support Maritime Security Operations in the region. [ More ]

USS Gettysburg Honors CMC
USS Gettysburg's Command Master Chief Loretta Glenn recently reenlisted for an additional two years of active duty Navy service. First in front of a small gathering in the ship's Unit Commander's Cabin and then again with the entire crew on the messdecks, Gettysburg's Commanding Officer, Captain Bill McQuilkin, read the oath to Master Chief Glenn.


Navy Ship, Helo Assist Crew of Pirated Vessel
Crew members from the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS James E. Williams (DDG 95) provided care and assistance for approximately 12 hours to crew members and pirates aboard the North Korean cargo vessel Dai Hong Dan, after the crew regained control of the ship from the pirates. HSL-44 Detachment Nine, based out of NS Mayport, is currently embarked on James E. Williams.

NS Mayport Volunteers Make Blue Angels Air Show A Success
More than 400,000 Jacksonville residents packed Jacksonville Beach Nov. 2-4 to watch the 2007 Jacksonville Sea & Sky Spectacular, co-sponsored by Naval Station Mayport, the City of Jacksonville and the Beaches. Spectators witnessed spectacular displays of both civilian and military aircraft.
