Fall Festivals Keep Base Fun

Cooler tempertures mean fall fun at NS Mayport. Starting this Saturday at the Mayport Chapel there will be a Fall Festival for service members and their families. Activities start at 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. There will be a moonwalk, dunk tank, cake walk, food, and more. Single Sailors are invited to join the Base Chapel every Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, Building 350, for ''Pizza and a Movie.'' Generosity Makes Mayport USO Shine
The cut of a ceremonial ribbon marked a new beginning for the USO on Mayport Road as volunteers and uniformed guests got a first hand look at a complete make over for the center that took more than nine months of hard work and immeasurable dedication to complete. ''This renovation has given the center the touch of home it deserves,'' said K.C. McCarthy, Executive Director for USO's greater Jacksonville area.

Hall First Navy Ship To Employ Airborne Use Of Force On CNT Deployment
While conducting counter narcotic operations in the the western Caribbean in early September, USS John L. Hall (FFG 32) became the first U.S. Navy ship to use Airborne Use of Force (AUF) while on a counter narco-terrorism (CNT) deployment.

USS Hue City Returns To Mayport
More than 300 Sailors from the guided missile cruiser USS Hue City (CG 66) and embarked helicopter detachment HSL-44 Detachment Nine returned Oct. 6 after completing a surge deployment in which the ship conducted Maritime Security Operations around the Horn of Africa and Relief Operations in the Eastern Mediterranean.
