Groves Intercepts 8.1 Tons of Cocaine

USS Stephen W. Groves (FFG 29) recently scored her third successful takedown of narcotics trafficking vessels in less than two weeks, and assisted in the takedown of a fourth, interdicting an estimated 8.1 metric tons of cocaine during a counter-narco terrorism operations (CNT OPS) deployment for U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command. HSL-40 Makes Voting Easier
This year, HSL-40 is making it easy to register to vote. HSL-40 will host representatives from the Duval County Supervisor of Elections Office at Naval Station Mayport from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sept. 22 in HSL-40's Wardroom. The representatives will be at the wardroom to help service members and their families register to vote in Duval County.

MWR Mayport, along with event sponsor, Navy Federal Credit Union, celebrated a ''Day for Kids'' on Saturday, Sept. 16 from 3-7 p.m. at the Youth Activities Center.

Delay Is 'Outstanding'
In conjunction with the American Logistics Associa-tion's 2006 MWR Expo in Louisville, Kentucky, Com-mander Naval Installations Command (CNIC) presented awards to outstanding MWR employees from across the globe. MWR Mayport employee, Rita Delay, was the recipient of the 2006 ''Practitioner of the Year'' for Commander, Navy Region Southeast.
