Farragut, CDS 40 Leave For POA
Guided missile frigate USS Kauffman (FFG 59), guided-missile destroyer USS Farragut (DDG 99) and Destroyer Squadron Four Zero (DESRON 40) departed underway from Mayport, FL, July 29 and kicked off the second half of their deployment in support of Partnership of the Americas 2008 (POA 08). One of the first events that they started with was a silent Division Tactics (DIVTAC) exercises in Atlantic waters on July 30.
HSL-46 To Hold Change Of Command
The Grandmasters of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Light 46 will hold a Change of Command at Naval Station Mayport on Aug. 14. Cmdr. Douglas R. Thompson will relieve Cmdr. Christopher J. Dennis as commanding officer.
Farragut Sets Sail From Guantanamo Bay Cuba
Guantanamo Bay Cuba- The crew of USS Farragut (DDG 99) set sail from the Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay Cuba, Aug. 4, in support of Partnership of the Americas (POA) 2008, an annual operation sponsored by US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) in the SOUTHCOM Area of Focus.
