Campbell Is New DeWert Captain

Sailors on board USS DeWert (FFG 45) hailed Cmdr. William R. Campbell and said farewell to Cmdr. Mark J. DeClue at the change of command held on the ship's flight deck on Aug. 3. [ More ]


New Jaguar At Helm Of HSL-60
Cmdr. Chris Hyder relieved Cmdr. Matt O'Keefe as HSL-60 commanding officer. Hyder graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.S. in Chemistry and was commissioned as a Naval Officer reporting to Pensacola for flight training in 1987. After earning his wings, Ensign Hyder completed the SH-2F FRS and joined the world famous ''Green Checkers'' of HSL-34.

Carney Gets Port Visit During SIFOREX
As part of SOUTHCOM's Theater Engagement Strategy and Silent Forces Exercise, USS Carney Sailors had the opportunity to experience the old and new in South America. Spending five days in Lima, Peru, Carneymen had the chance to enjoy tours arranged by MWR along with shopping at the markets for the local pottery, alpaca clothing, bead jewelry, and dining on traditional Peruvian fare.

HSL-46 Grandmasters Host Education Fair
More than 70 Sailors from HSL-46 and other COM-HSMWINGLANT squadrons took advantage of an education fair hosted in the HSL-46 wardroom on July 27. Local colleges and the Navy College Learning Center were on hand to field questions and enroll Sailors who were interested in pursuing a degree.

UF Grads Visit Samuel B. Roberts
USS Samuel B. Roberts (FFG 58) recently received a visit from a class of graduate and doctoral leadership students from the University of Florida. Taught by Dr. Hannah Carter, the purpose of the course is to teach leadership to students who are aiming to be leaders in the corporate world.
