Celebrate 4th Of July At NS Mayport

Join MWR Mayport and Naval Station Mayport in celebrating America's Independence Day on July 4. Authorized base patrons are invited to join in on all the fun. Bands will perform live at Sea Otter Pavilion and there will be DJs entertaining between sets and at the CPO Club . Fantastic food and beverages will be available for purchase. Mayport Ships Reach Halfway Point In Neptune Warrior
The U.S. guided-missile cruiser USS Monterey (CG 61), guided-missile destroyer USS The Sullivans (DDG 68) and guided-missile frigate USS Boone (FFG 28) led by Commander, Destroyer Squadron (COMDESRON) 24 completed the first phase of the Neptune Warrior Course, a coalition course occurring in the North Atlantic, June 24.

Sailors Re-Enlist At Boston's Fenway Park
During a recent port visit to Boston, Mass., five Sailors from USS Underwood (FFG-36) had the chance to re-enlist at Boston's famed Fenway Park, home to the Boston Red Sox. The ship's Chief Engineer, Lt Luis Eliza was the re-enlisting officer for CS1(SW)Rolando Pablo, CS2(SW) Jose Rodriguez, TM2(SW) Miguel Laboy, OS2(SW) Ledric Neal, and PS3(SW) Homero Segura.

USS Simpson Is Back In Town
It was a chilly and cloudy Jan. 3 morning, when families and friends waved farewell to USS Simpson (FFG 56) as it slipped its mooring and sailed into the dawning sun at the start of a six-month deployment with embarked helicopter detachment, HSL-42 Detachment Nine. The weather was warm and sunny when they pulled back into Naval Station Mayport on June 24.

USS Stephen W. Groves, COMUSNAVSO Engage Colombian Navy
Commander U. S. Naval Forces Southern Command continued efforts at Theater Security Cooperation (TSC) by hosting a sunset reception for the Colombian Navy onboard USS Stephen W. Groves (FFG 29) in Cartagena, Colombia, June 15.
