Mayport's Golden Anchors Of Retention
An unprecedented number of Mayport ships were recently awarded the Golden Anchor Retention Excellence Award for FY-08. The award is viewed by many as merely re-signing a large number of Sailors; however, there is much more involved. To begin, the command must sit down and talk with Sailors about what they want to do with their careers. From there, the command is then able to hold career development boards to determine any deficiencies or areas in which they may be able to assist the Sailor. These boards provide a jumping-off point for continued focus and attention on individual Sailors, creating individualized efforts specific to that Sailor's needs and ambitions.
