USS Farragut Hosts Three Baptisms

SERMC Sailor Awarded Bronze Star Medal
In an awards ceremony attended by many of his new shipmates and his wife, Chief Electronics Technician Michael W. Neff was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his meritorious service while assigned as Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge to the Director for Communications (J6), Afghan Regional Security Integration Command-East (ARSIC-E) during Operation Enduring Freedom.


Balfour Beatty Wins In Safety
Since the start of their military housing project in March 2008, the Navy Southeast project team in Mayport, Florida, has removed 169 existing homes, constructed 49 new single family homes, and logged almost 107,000 man-hours. But what makes this project truly unique is that they did it all with no recordable accidents, no OSHA violations, and no environmental violations - a notable achievement for which they were recently honored as recipients of the Southeast Division's 2009 Safety Legacy Award.

A Families Eyes Opened
Cynthia Byrd Conner, a Management and Program Analyst for Southeast Regional Maintenance Center (SERMC), at Naval Station Mayport, Fla. has lived most of her life without her father, Master Chief Boatswain's Mate Sherman Byrd, who died in April 1971 after a morning physical training exercise when she was just 13 years old.
